Brief info

Heather has dedicated over 35 years of her career to the field or child and youth mental health. For more than 33 years, she served as a counsellor with the Durham District School Board before retiring in February 2024. Despite her retirement, Heather remains actively involved with the DDSB in both supply and volunteer positions.

Her extensive experience includes roles in alternative education, working at Ontario Shores for Mental Health Sciences, and contributing to the Catholic Children’s Aid Society. Additionally, Heather has shared her expertise as an instructor in the Child and Youth Counsellor program at Centennial College.

Heather’s connection to Nova’s began when her daughter, Keeley, started volunteering there. Inspired by her daughter’s involvement, Heather and her entire family soon became dedicated volunteers. In 2012, Heather joined the Board of Directors and now serves as Vice President.

Heather is passionate about Nova’s Ark’s mission. She is proud to be a part of the work Nova’s does to create a warm, welcoming, accepting, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports personalized programming while fostering collaboration among home, school and community partners.
