Child and Youth Care Practitioner

Jessica joined Nova’s Ark in September 2025 as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner with an Advanced Diploma from Durham College. She is currently furthering her education by completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Athabasca University.

Through her placements in both school and clinical settings, Jessica has gained experience supporting a diverse range of individuals with varying needs. At Nova’s Ark, she works with individuals of all ages, focusing on meeting each person where they are at and supporting their growth in a way that is meaningful to them.

Jessica was drawn to Nova’s Ark because of its commitment to individualized, strengths-based support. She values the environment where participants are encouraged to be themselves, build coping strategies and develop self-regulation skills that support their everyday lives.

As a Child and Youth Care Practitioner at Nova's Ark, Jessica is passionate about making a positive difference in each participant’s day and is proud to be part of a team that fosters acceptance, growth and authenticity.

Unlike everywhere else I’ve been, at Nova’s Ark, I do not feel out of place. It gives me something that I feel like I can’t find anywhere else. I meet people that I otherwise wouldn’t meet and I feel like a lot of those who have helped me through my struggles I’ve met here.

Nova’s Ark is special to our whole family. When Daniel first started here, he could only speak one-word sentences. Now, he can talk your ear off and is very independent. Daniel being at Nova’s Ark takes a lot of pressure off of our family because we know he is safe, happy and learning. No matter the weather or if he is tired, Daniel doesn’t want to miss a day.

From the moment our son started attending Novas Ark, we felt such positivity, hope and inspiration. Everyone in the Nova’s Ark family has been so caring and accepting of our whole family.
